The history of Sikhism and the pious Sri Guru Granth Sahib scripture holds the importance of the word ’Panch’ which is of great significance. Coincidently, the book is the fifth publication in Giani Maskeenji words. ‘Panch Parvan’ was first published by Giani Sant Singh Maskeen ji in 1986 and consists of twenty seven topics that correlate itself to every human nature on this earth to ultimately turn them into ‘Panch’ who according to the holy book ‘Japji Sahib’ are those ‘selective humans who are the self-elect, are accepted and approved. The chosen ones are honored in the Court of the Lord.’
The above interpretation is on the lines given below:-
panch paravaan panch paradhaan ,
panchae paavehi dharagehi maan
By ‘Panch Parvan’ we mean ‘The Five eminent selective groups chosen from the ‘Sangat’ (gathering of devotees). Guru Nanak Dev was the first to start this ritual of selecting people who then came to be known as ‘Panch Parvan’ or ‘Panch Pradhan’ (presidents) who were extremely devoted and made supreme sacrifices for their guru. This was further taken forward by other Sat Guru’s as five disciples of Guru Arjan Dev ji and Five Pyaras of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. These five people who were most privileged to have been offered such a name were initiated by their Guru and were probably the true leaders leading a very simple, pure but high thinking lives.
